I am a huge fan of Merrell footwear and purchase this brand more often than any other. I love the look and style of this "fashion sandal". However, the leather strapping across the top of the foot was pretty loose with no way to adjust it. I wear size 8.5 so I ordered a 9 b/c they say this sandal runs small and to order a half size up (I called Merrell directly about this even though I ordered from the site). The strap farthest up the foot right before the ankle wrap was so loose that I could easily stick my finger underneath it with room to spare. My additional concern was that the loosest strap also has some additional stretchy elastic sewn onto it, which I assume is to add even more flexibility to the strap - if it had been too tight. So after a few months of wear this strap may stretch out even more. It just didn't look right on my foot so I am returning them...

I know when some people complained of there being too much room in the sandle over their arches that I'd probably love this shoe. I have a difficult time with shoes that are not tie shoes due to my high arches. I love these sandles. I've gotten many complements. They shipped quickly. Ive had them about a month and wear them just about every weekend.

After reading the other two reviews, I was hopeful yet apprehensive when I ordered these in black. After wearing them for a few days, I can say that these are easily some of the most comfortable sandals that I own. The straps are not too tight but are definitely not loose across my feet; the ankle strap is shorter than expected, but still fits. The footbed is very well-cushioned and provides a fair amount of support, especially for a sandal. Overall, I am very happy with these and know I will be wearing them all summer!
